STUDY COMPLETE - FEBRUARY 2024
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA), in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to determine a recommended future road alignment that would extend the Midvalley Highway (SR-179) from SR-138 to SR-36.

As of February 2024, UDOT has completed the EA process – having identified a Preferred Alternative and released a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). The FONSI and the environmental document, including a description of the Preferred Alternative to connect Midvalley Highway from SR-138 to SR-36, are now available for review.
A comprehensive Public Hearing report, including presentation materials, public comments and responses, is also available for review.
Funding for construction is not yet available. However, a portion of funding was allocated to the project in summer 2023 to allow UDOT to begin right-of-way (ROW) coordination with the Tooele Army Depot.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being or have been carried-out by UDOT pursuant to 23 USC 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022, and executed by FHWA and UDOT.
